New leadership drives next phase for the Sheep Sustainability Framework

New leadership drives next phase for the Sheep Sustainability Framework

June 30 2026

The Sheep Sustainability Framework (SSF) has welcomed a number of new appointments to its Steering Group, strengthening the breadth of expertise guiding the Framework as it continues to evolve to meet the needs of industry, government and market stakeholders.

The appointments bring experience from across sheep production, sustainability, finance, research and supply chains, ensuring the Framework remains informed by perspectives from throughout the value chain.

The SSF is the Australian sheep industry's sustainability reporting framework, providing independently sourced data and transparent reporting across key environmental, animal welfare, people and market indicators. The Framework is industry-owned and exists to support informed decision-making, market confidence and a shared understanding of sustainability outcomes across Australia's sheepmeat and wool industries.

The new Steering Group members joined existing members and the SSF Board for a strategic planning session in April, where priorities for the coming year were discussed. Key areas of focus included strengthening stakeholder engagement, improving utilisation of SSF data, addressing priority data gaps and ensuring the Framework continues to align with evolving market and reporting expectations.

The appointments come at an important time for the Framework, as sustainability reporting continues to play an increasingly important role in supporting transparency, market access and industry credibility. By bringing together expertise from across the sheep value chain, the Steering Group helps ensure the Framework remains practical, relevant and trusted by the stakeholders who rely on it.

The SSF would like to thank all Steering Group members for their ongoing contribution and welcomes the new appointees as the Framework enters its next phase of delivery.
